Enliven your Space with Living Coral
If you’re a fan of reading design and creative articles, then you’ve probably already discovered this
vivacious, yet versatile hue this year.
It’s the Pantone Colour of the year for 2019, and for design enthusiasts everywhere, it’s been
cropping up on newsfeeds, grids and boards since it was announced late in 2018, providing us with inspiration on how best to use this feature colour.
Now, I’m not going to lie. When I first saw it released, I was unsure of it in an interiors environment.
I’m just not a ‘pink’ kind of girl. However, having had a few weeks of experimenting with it, this hue
is most definitely becoming a firm favourite of mine, very quickly.
My favourite combination is using coral with dark navy or charcoal to provide a more graphical look. To push the trend even further, highlights of rust create a harmonious palette that is definitely
worth some love.
Always one to share a tip or two, I’ve been having a bit of a local scout around to see just what I can find in this fresh, spring-inducing (we can but try) colour, and I’m so pleased to report that it’s has been popping up everywhere, from prints to cushions and even painted furniture!
Here’s my local Living Coral edit for you lovely WinchestHer lot, (because I know how important it is
to us all to support local Indies when we can):
Add Texture with Textiles:
If you’re not one for large volumes of colour, adding pops with a cushion or two, a throw or even a table runner are all quick ways of updating your space with a trend-led vibe. These snazzy cushions by Kate Whyley Designs are not only a wonderful hit of vibrant colour, but they also feature stunning prints that just ooze cool.

Fuse Classic with Contemporary:
Stephanie at La Di Da Interiors in Andover, knows just how to bring a new lease of life to aged
furniture with punchy paints.
La Di Da stocks a wide range of Annie Sloan paint, including this fabulous Scandinavian Pink, which
would look just amazing on a feature piece!
Check out La Di Da in person by dropping into their beautiful shop in Andover, or online here.
Set the Scene:
Walls are the perfect place to bring in some colour, and if you’re not entirely sold on a whole wall of
Living Coral, then art is a great way to introduce the hue in a much more subtle way.

Brighten Things Up
Lamp shades are great for softening lights and also for pulling prints and textiles together in a room.
For something that you won’t find on the high street, Kate Whyley Designs have some more punchy
prints to ensure that your bulbs are the best dressed on the road. Pairing the soft coral with intense
navies and greys creates a strong contrast and a more graphical take on the pretty hue.
So who else is a converted Living Coral fanatic?
With an extension going up as we speak, I’m more than a little convinced about using the colour in
our own home… Now just to convince the other half!
