How To Wear Leather

How To Wear Leather

Durable, resilient and tough. Quite like us women? Yes, we’re talking leather. In a mixture of silhouettes and colours, we’ve seen it grace the catwalks internationally providing inspiration for chic looks, taking you from daytime dressing to party wear making leather wearable for the everyday woman (despite what people think, it’s not as terrifying to wear as it seems!).

How to wear it? Well there’s a number of ways you can inject the leather trend in to your wardrobe. The highstreet is full with a selection of PU & pleather and it’s better than ever, you can find some expensive looking pieces without the hefty price tag.

Firstly, leather trousers are an absolute winter must have for me. Straight, skinny, high waisted, cropped styles paired with an oversized knit in a good cut (also a great way to cover the lumps and bumps if you’re wearing skinny fit leather trousers!). Pair with a bodysuit/ blouse and heels to head out out.

The leather dress and skirt – much like a pair of trousers, they are available in every style to suit the wearer. Perfect for office wear with a crisp white shirt and blazer, also easily dressed down for your day to day wardrobe with a chunky knit, tights and boots.

A leather jacket – I imagine the percentage of readers here already have one in their wardrobe? It’s fabulous to give a little edge to an outfit. There are many affordable options on the high-street that look great (I have one from Zara that people constantly ask if it’s real leather!), as well as alternative cuts depending on your body shape. Real leather purchases are certainly an investment, however if it’s an item you wear frequently (cost per wear!) I would highly recommend, I’ve recently purchased a Maje biker jacket and I have no regrets.

Accessories & footwear – an important factor when dressing. They can make or break an outfit and I would go as far as saying they are the best parts of compiling an outfit. You can’t beat a good real leather pair of boots, they will last you through each season and are worth the extra money to guarantee comfort. My favourite – accessories, look for real leather items in the sales, you will get more for your money and by purchasing accessories in colours that work with your current wardrobe, it means you won’t have to impulse buy on occasion.

Who’s already ahead of the game and bang on trend with their leather pieces?
