Autumn Wedding Guest: The Edit

Autumn Wedding Guest: The Edit

Dressing for a wedding can be a hard enough task, let alone with having to factor in weather conditions. It might be cooling down but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice looking chic. Unless specified by the wedding party, there are only one a few simple rules when it comes to weddings: do not wear white, do not purposefully upstage the bride (or groom) and dress appropriately – a bad outfit will only come back to haunt you in photos.

With so many midi and maxi dresses everywhere right now, you’ll find sophisticated prints, beautiful textures and fabrics in a style for everyone.

I’ve curated a selection of what you can expect to find in stores and online:

Autumn Wedding Style

The Little Black Number

& Other Stories  – A versatile black dress which will become a staple your the winter wardrobe. The sheer underlay adds a sexiness to the dress and well I’m now likely to be £135 poorer after this post.

The Luxe Option

Lily & Lionel  A figure-flattering cut and high-low hem in a gorgeous print, what more could you want from a dress?

Keep It Classic

Next  – Go for a classic, the satin dress that will take you through the years. Remember, you can always unbutton if you prefer to show a bit of skin.

Autumn Wedding Guest Dress Ideas

Slinky & On Season

Zara  –  The slinky satin dress in autumnal forest green (ps. It has adjustable straps.. almost as good as pockets!). Perfect with a blazer and barely-there heels.

Wrap & Go

& Other Stories– An option if you’re someone who enjoys a bit of colour…  a beautiful wrap style with a defined waist.

Layering is a must. You’ll definitely warm up once you get on the dance floor! Consider a smart blazer, wool or faux fur coat to keep you warm on your travels between venues and if the style of dress permits, wear a body or under slip – a tip for anyone who feels the cold.

Accessories can pull an outfit together, so don’t cut the short straw here. If you’re going with a simple black dress like the one from & Other Stories, add a pop of colour. If your dress does the talking – like the Lily & Lionel dress, for example, keep it simple – Whistles are great for a classic accessory that will stand the test of time. Tie in colours with prints and don’t be afraid to contrast.
