Theatre Royal Winchester are looking for supporting cast members for this year’s
pantomime, Dick Whittington, which tells the story of a poor boy who goes to London to seek his fortune.
The theatre wants to hear from strong dancers, with a performance background, who want to
take part as volunteer support cast members, alongside the professional actors of the show,
which this year runs from Saturday 30 November 2019 – Sunday 5 January 2020.
Dick Whittington will be brought to the stage by Great British Pantomime Award nominees,
lyricist, James Barry, and composer, Simon Slater – who have been nominated for the
Musical Achievement Award for their musical score for the theatre’s panto last year, Beauty
and the Beast – the theatre’s most successful with almost 20,000 theatre-goers enjoying the
Applications for support cast members are welcome from anyone who will be aged 16 and
above by Friday 28 June 2019 – with no upper age limit applying – and the audition will
include an individual and a group dance.
Applicants must be available to take part in the whole run of 60 shows or be a member of
one of two teams, which each performs in 30 shows. They may also need to take part in
promotional events, before or during the pantomime’s run.
Rehearsals for support cast members will take place on Sundays from 3 November 2019, with the main cast joining in, in the run up to the first show, from week commencing 19 November. A full list of rehearsals and performances will be made available at the auditions.
The closing date for applications is Monday 13 May at 9am; with the shortlisted being
contacted by Friday 17 May, and auditions to follow on Sunday 26 May, from 2pm – 5pm.
